Billboard revealed that Beyoncé’s ‘Cowboy Carter’ has reached No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart, making her the first-ever Black female artist to achieve the feat since the chart’s launch in January 1964. In February, Beyoncé became the first-ever Black female artist to top the Hot Country Songs chart with the album’s lead single, “Texas Hold ‘Em.”

Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé’s eighth album, also reached the top spot on the Billboard 200, Americana/Folk Albums and Top Album Sales charts, having sold 407,000 equivalent album units in its first week of chart eligibility. Cowboy Carter claims the biggest week of 2024 and the largest since Taylor Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version), with 1.653 million units on the Nov. 11, 2023-dated list. The feat also marks Beyoncé’s biggest week by units, since her Lemonade album debuted at No. 1 with 653,000 units (mostly from traditional album sales) on the May 14, 2016, chart. The new effort also lands Beyoncé her biggest streaming week ever.

Cowboy Carter was released on March 29, and features “vocalists, musicians, and orators” including Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Linda Martell, Stevie Wonder, Chuck Berry, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Jon Batiste, Rhiannon Giddens, Nile Rodgers, Robert Randolph, Gary Clark, Jr., Willie Jones, Brittney Spencer, Shaboozey, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell and Tiera Kennedy. Additional collaborators on the project include The-Dream, Pharrell Williams, NO I.D., Raphael Saadiq, Ryan Tedder, Ryan Beatty, Swizz Beatz, Khirye Tyler, Derek Dixie, Ink, Nova Wav, Mamii, Cam, Tyler Johnson, Dave Hamelin and Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter.

“Barbie The Movie: In Concert” will hit the road this summer, featuring a live orchestra performing alongside a screening of the film.

Macy Schmidt and the Barbie Land Sinfonietta, an all-women and majority women-of-color orchestra, will perform the Barbie score live at each stop of the 37-city tour, which kicks off on July 2nd in Tampa, Florida. The North American trek will also feature concerts in St. Louis, Denver, Nashville, Toronto, and a previously announced date in Los Angeles.

According to a press release, “the record-smashing film will be projected onto a giant LED screen above The Barbie Land Sinfonietta as they perform the film’s award-winning score. Music lends so much heart and excitement to the Barbie film; between the stunning and clever orchestral score and the upbeat iconic pop soundtrack, music is carrying us through the story. On top of getting to experience the film unlike ever before, Barbie The Movie: In Concert audiences will have the privilege of watching some of the world’s best musicians come together and do what they do best.”

Schmidt said: “Throughout this entire process, I’ve been so inspired by Mattel’s genuine commitment to everything this film stands for. I am particularly excited to be partnering with Mattel as I have long been inspired by Barbie’s purpose statement: ‘To inspire the limitless potential in every girl.’ It couldn’t be more aligned to have an all-women orchestra performing this film, bringing its message to life onstage.”

Country artist Morgan Wallen was arrested Sunday night on three felony charges, after allegedly throwing a chair off of a six-story bar on Broadway in Nashville just before 11 p.m. local time on Sunday, April 7. The bar in question Chief’s on Broadway, is owned by country singer Eric Church, and just had its grand opening on Friday, April 5.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department confirmed the arrest on social media, sharing a statement alongside a photo of Wallen’s mugshot which read: “Country artist Morgan Wallen, 30, was booked early today on 3 cts of felony reckless endangerment and 1 ct of misdemeanor disorderly conduct for throwing a chair from the rooftop of Chief’s Bar Sun night. The chair landed on Broadway, close to 2 MNPD officers. His bond: $15,250.”

Local Nashville outlet WKRN reported that witnesses said Wallen was seen picking up the chair, throwing it over the rooftop’s edge and “laughing afterward,” with video footage reviewed by police showing the singer throwing an object off the roof and it plunging six stories down. Wallen was booked into Metro Jail early on Monday morning and released a few hours later.

Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, confirmed the arrest to Entertainment Weekly in the following statement: “At 10:53p Sunday evening Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is cooperating fully with authorities.” Representatives for Wallen declined further comment.

Wallen’s arrest in Nashville comes just days after he kicked off the 2024 leg of his One Night at a Time World Tour in Indianapolis, Indiana. Per PEOPLE, Wallen is schedule to perform in Nashville on May 2 and 3 at Nissan Stadium, following a headlining performance at Stagecoach music festival at the end of April.

31-year-old singer and former One Direction member Zayn Malik dropped the song “What I Am,” the first single to debut from his recently announced forthcoming album, Room Under the Stairs, scheduled for release May 17.

Room Under the Stairs will mark Malik’s first album in over three years, since Nobody is Listening was released in January 2021. Said Malik of the project: “This song is the first release of a special project I’ve been working on for years.”

Rolling Loud announced they are heading to Miami later this year, marking the tenth anniversary of the festival. Rolling Loud Miami will take place on December 13 to 15 at the Hard Rock Stadium; per UPROXX, while the lineup has yet to be announced, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, Future, Metro Boomin, and more have recently performed at the event.

Rolling Loud’s Co-Founders Matt Zingler & Tariq Cherif shared in a statement: “It was incredible seeing the Rolling Loud community come together in Los Angeles for a truly unforgettable weekend of music. After announcing her debut solo album “Dopamine” last month, Normani announced that the project’s first single, “1:59” featuring Gunna, will drop on April 26. Normani posted on X: “soo basically my first single 1:59 will be coming out 4/26 ”

Dopamine will be Normani’s first full solo album since her former group, Fifth Harmony, broke-up in 2018. Since splitting with Fifth Harmony, Normani has released various collabs and singles including “Dancing With a Stranger” alongside Sam Smith and “Love Lies” with Khalid. Her Cardi B duet “Wild Side” peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100, and her 2019 solo single “Motivation” peaked at No. 33 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Normani said last month that Dopamine will be worth the wait. “I know what I’ve been through. For me, this upcoming album is not just about music coming out. It feels like a representation of everything I’ve gone through to get to this moment… I know I needed time, experiences, and space coming out of [Fifth Harmony] in order to become the version of myself I needed to be. Without [all of that], I would not be able to exist within the creative space that I am in now. I would not be able to make the type of music I’m making now.”

Beyoncé has dropped a re-imagined new version of her chart-topping hit, titled “Texas Hold ‘Em (Pony Up Remix).” The remix comes just days after Beyoncé released her eighth studio album, Cowboy Carter. Spotify announced that the  27-track album was the music platform’s most-streamed album in a single day in 2024 so far, becoming the first country album to hold the title.

Beyoncé released “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages” in February, ahead of dropping Cowboy Carter. “Texas Hold ‘Em” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, making Beyoncé the first Black woman to top that chart. It also topped the Billboard Global 200 — making it the first time Beyoncé has reached no. 1 on that chart since it was launched in September 2020.

Queen Bey also launched a cryptic new website, beencountry.com, which fans suspect may be her way of teasing a forthcoming tour announcement. The homepage of the new website features throwback shots of Beyoncé as a child singing at the Texas Sweetheart Pageant, as well as a recent image of her in cowboy attire. On the site are images of a banjo and her slogan “This ain’t a country album. This is a ‘Beyoncé’ album.”

Meghan Trainor will embark on a new North American tour, in support of her upcoming, sixth full-length album, Timeless, out June 14th via Epic Records.  Trainor shared via Instagram: “I cannot believe it has been 10 years since this all started. Trainor also dropped the lead single from Timeless, titled “Been Like This” featuring T-Pain. On working with Meghan, T-Pain shared, “I worked with Meghan’s husband and manager for months trying to surprise her for her birthday. She’s been a fan of mine for a long time and the feeling is definitely mutual. I think we came together in a way that’s a perfect mesh of styles that will get everybody ready for us to work together again real soon. Trainor also announced The Timeless Tour, kicking off September 3rd at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati, OH. The 24-show tour includes stops at Madison Square Garden in New York, the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO.  Natasha Bedingfield serves as direct support on the NYC, Denver, and Los Angeles dates, with Paul Russell as direct support for the entire tour. Trainor’s best friend Chris Olsen and brother Ryan Trainor will also be joining the tour as special guests.

Travis Kelce revealed the star-studded lineup for Kelce Jam 2024, featuring headliners 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne alongside Diplo. The second annual event is set to take place on May 18, 2024, in Kansas City. at the Azura Amphitheater.

Kelce Jam 2024 will also feature local restaurant pop-ups and interactive activations throughout the event, and will stream globally across Travis Kelce (@killatrav) and @KelceJam on Instagram, powered by Takis. Said Kelce: “Kansas City, Kelce Jam is back, baby! I’m excited to once again welcome fans for the ultimate day of music, food, and an electric experience celebrating Kansas City. The 59-date tour kicks off Aug. 15 at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colo. with stops in Seattle, Phoenix, New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago and their hometown of Columbus, Ohio before wrapping up the North American leg on Oct. 12 at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn.  The international leg of the tour begins in Auckland, New Zealand, on Nov. 17 and will make stops in Australia the rest of the month. The tour resumes April 2025 in Germany, Italy, Spain, France and more before wrapping up with two shows at London’s 02 Arena on May 13 and 14.
