The Weeknd to perform at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards

Organizers announced on Monday that The Weeknd is scheduled to perform at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. The singer will perform live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The show, hosted by Nick Jonas, kicks off on Sunday, May 23rd at 8:00 p.m. ET/5:00 p.m. PT on NBC. 

The Weeknd is nominated in 16 BBMA categories this year. Three-time BBMA winner Pink was previously announced as a performer for this year’s awards, and will also be taking home the honorary Icon Award for 2021

Bebe Rexha releases her sophomore album ‘Better Mistakes’

Bebe Rexha ha officially dropped her sophomore album, Better Mistakes.

To celebrate the release, Rexha will headline and host her first-ever livestream, A Night With Bebe Rexha: The Better Mistakes Livestream Concert, on Thursday, May 20 at 6pm PT/9pm ET. Tickets are available HERE with exclusive merch packages. Audiences may enjoy repeat viewings for up to 24 hours after the livestream airs.

Chance The Rapper shares teaser trailer for new concert film

Chance The Rapper has shared a teaser trailer for his upcoming new concert film dubbed Magnificent Coloring World. Back in 2016, the rapper hosted his inaugural Magnificent Coloring World event in his hometown go Chicago before then heading out on the ‘Magnificent Coloring World Tour’. 

The film, directed by Jake Schreiber and produced by Chance’s House of Kicks and Park Pictures, is set to be released this summer exclusively through AMC Theatres.

Milwaukee’s ‘Summerfest’ Announces 2021 lineup including Miley Cyrus, Chance the Rapper, Dave Matthews Band and more

After canceling in 2020 for the first time in its 53-year history, organizers of Milwaukee, WI’s Summerfest announced the star-studded lineup of acts slated to perform this year. 

The 53rd edition of the festival will take place over three consecutive weekends: September 2nd–4th, 9th–11th, and 16th–18th, with music running from noon to midnight each day. Summerfest features over 1,000 performances on 11 stages, along with food, beverages, and activities.

Summerfest will feature headline sets in the 23,000-capacity American Family Insurance Amphitheater from artists including Miley Cyrus, Chance the Rapper, 311, Run the Jewels, G-Eazy, Nelly, T-Pain, 24kGoldn, Ludacris, Flo Rida, the Jonas Brothers, and Dave Matthews Band, as well as performances from Sheryl Crow, the Zac Brown Band, Gabby Barrett, Chris Stapleton, Luke Bryan, and Brett Eldredge,

Summerfest has traditionally run from late June to early July over 11 days, but this year organizers have pushed it back to the fall as the nationwide COVID-19 vaccine roll-out continues and the nation attempts to reach herd immunity.  The festival said it is committed to providing a safe environment for its fans, vendors, sponsors, and staff, and festival officials are working closely with local civic officials and health professionals to implement health and safety procedures and protocols.

DJ Khaled teams up with H.E.R. & Migos for ‘We Going Crazy’ video

DJ Khaled has unveiled another video from his new album Khaled Khaled, his Migos and H.E.R. collaboration “We Going Crazy.” 

Earlier in the week, Khaled premiered videos for “Every Chance I Get” with Lil Baby and Lil Durk, as well as “Thankful” featuring Lil Wayne and Jeremih. Last week, he dropped his JAY-Z and Nas collab “Sorry Not Sorry.”

Travis Scott to headline his sold-out, two-day ‘Astroworld” festival in Houston

After Travis Scott confirmed that he will be headlining his two-day “Astroworld” festival in Houston, the event fully sold out in under an hour with over 100,000 total guests scheduled to attend the weekend event. The music festival is slated to return for a third year to NRG Park in Houston, Texas with an expanded two-day format on Friday, November 5 and Saturday, November 6.

Tickets for the music festival went on sale at 10:00 am on Wednesday, but in less than one hour the entire weekend event was sold out without a music performance lineup attached.  Scott will serve as headliner, as he prepares for the forthcoming release of his new album, Utopia. A portion of proceeds from the event will be donated to the festival’s official charity partner, Cactus Jack Foundation, which was founded by Scott.  The nonprofit organization looks to empower and enrich the lives of youth by providing access to education and creative resources to ensure long-term success.

Imagine Dragons debut video for ‘Cutthroat’ featuring actress Olivia Munn

Imagine Dragons have released a music video for their new single “Cutthroat,” one of two songs recently released by the group and their first new music since 2018’s “Origins”.

The video for “Cutthroat” video stars Olivia Munn, along with Adrian Martinez and was directed by Matt Eastin, who directed the band’s previous video for the song “Follow You”.

Post Malone, Billie Eilish, A$AP Rocky and more announced for ‘Governors Ball 2021’ in New York

The full lineup of New York’s Governor’s Ball 2021 Festival has been announced, with Billie Eilish, A$AP Rocky, and Post Malone headlining the three-day event which will take place on September 24-26 at Citi Field in New York City.

The announcement coincides with New York’s announcement of their gradual reopening, though there may be some COVID-19 precautions in place. The festival’s press release reads: “The festival will follow all state and federal guidelines mandated at the time of the event.”

Citi Bank customers have access to a ticket presale now until Thursday, May 6th. Tickets open to the general public on Thursday, May 6 at 9:30 AM EST at GovBall.com. Single-day tickets or three-day packages are available.

The Billboard Music Awards announced on Tuesday that Pink will perform and receive the Icon Award at the awards ceremony on May 23. Previous Icon Award recipients include Garth Brooks, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Prince, Stevie Wonder and Neil Diamond.

The Icon Award “recognizes outstanding artists who have achieved excellence on the Billboard charts and have made an indelible mark on music itself.”  Pink said in a statement: “As a little girl, I always dreamed about being a singer and sharing my love of music with the world. Years later, to receive the Billboard Music Awards Icon Award is hard to fathom! I feel so honored to join the ranks of music idols like Cher, Garth Brooks, Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder.
