David Prowse, the actor who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy has died. He was 85.

In a statement to BBC, Prowse’s agent, Thomas Bowington, said he died after a short illness. “Though famous for playing many monsters — for myself, and all who knew Dave and worked with him, he was a hero in our lives,” Bowington said, calling Prowse’s death “a truly and deeply heart-wrenching loss for us and millions of fans all over the world.”

Prowse made his film debut in the 1978 James Bond spoof Casino Royale. The actor also also had roles on The Saint, Space 1999 and Doctor Who. Prowse was invited to audition for the roles of Darth Vader and Chewbacca in 1977’s Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, and he chose to play Vader, with James Earl Jones voicing the character.

Mark Hamill wrote on Twitter: “So sad to hear David Prowse has passed. He was a kind man & much more than Darth Vader. Actor-Husband-Father-Member of the Order of the British Empire-3 time British Weightlifting Champion & Safety Icon the Green Cross Code Man. He loved his fans as much as they loved him. #RIP.”

Halsey Criticizes Grammys After Snub And Calls For More ‘Transparency Or Reform’

tmp27174cf2-10da-40ce-bb51-57fb398f1482-jpg

Halsey reacted to her Grammys snub by calling out the Recording Academy via an Instagram story on Saturday, Nov. 28.  Halsey shared a lengthy message describing the problems she sees with the “elusive process” for selecting nominees and winners, even though she thinks the “post will blacklist [her].”

“The Grammys are an elusive process,” Halsey wrote. “It can often be about behind the scenes private performances, knowing the right people, campaigning through the grapevine, with the right handshakes and ‘bribes’ that can be just ambiguous enough to pass as ‘not-bribes’. And if you get that far, it’s about committing to exclusive TV performances and making sure you help the Academy make their millions in advertising on the night of the show.”

Halsey added that she’s “THRILLED” for her friends who were nominated. She celebrated Phoebe Bridgers, who is nominated for multiple Grammys, including Best New Artist, with a tweet. Halsey also indicated in another tweet that she’d congratulated others privately.

The 63rd Grammy Awards are set to air on Jan. 31, 2021.

Alicia Vikander is set to star in and executive produce the upcoming TV adaptation of Dial M For Murder.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, the show is ‘Designed as an anthology series that will reset each season, the new take reimagines Frederick Knott’s 1952 play and its subsequent 1954 feature film by Alfred Hitchcock.” Adding another aspect to the reimagining, the anthology series will ‘tell the crime thriller from the female perspective.’  Vikander and writer/producer Terence Winter teamed with MGM/UA Television to develop the series, which currently has no network attached to it.

The 1954 film adaptation of Dial M For Murder revolves around an ‘ex-tennis pro’ named Tony Wendice,’ played by Ray Milland, who ‘wants to have his wealthy wife, Margot (Grace Kelly) murdered so he can get his hands on her inheritance.’ When he discovers Margot’s affair with Mark Halliday, Tony ‘comes up with the perfect plan to kill her.’
