Nearly three decades after its 1994 debut, Mariah Carey’s classic holiday tune “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has become the first song in Billboard Hot 100 history to reach No. 1 in “three distinct runs”.

According to Billboard, the song made its third streak at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, last topping the charts on December 21st, 2019, December 28th, 2019, and January 4th, 2020. “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has extended its record for spending the most weeks at No. 1 with its sixth week atop the Billboard Hot 100. With 85 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, Carey is the first artist to have the historic rank in four distinct decades.

In honor of the holiday season, Carey recently teamed up with McDonald’s for ‘The Mariah Menu’, twelve daily menu deals in the McDonald’s app that offers free merchandise to select participants. Like other recent McDonald’s celebrity collaborations, ‘The Mariah Menu’ will be available for a limited-time, ending on Christmas Eve.

Trevor Noah has sued a hospital and doctor in New York City after they allegedly botched a surgery he underwent in 2020. The 37-year-old ‘The Daily Show’ sued Dr. Riley J. Williams III and the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan, according to court documents.

According the the documents, Trevor was a patient between August 25, 2020 and December 17, 2020, and underwent the surgery with the doctor at the hospital on November 23, 2020. In the court documents,  The lawsuit claims that the defendants “were negligent and careless in failing to treat and care for [him] in a careful and skillful manner, and failing to use approved methods in general use in the care and treatment.”  The lawsuit also alleges that the hospital and doctor failed “to prescribe proper medications, failed to discontinue certain prescription medications, and failed to use proper tests and examinations in order to diagnose the conditions” that Trevor was suffering from, adding that he suffered “serious personal injury” after the surgery, some of which are “permanent, severe, and grievous.”

The Hospital for Special Surgery has denied Trevor‘s claims with a representative saying that the comedian’s claims are “meritless.” The representative shared in a statement: “HSS received a complaint filed on behalf of Mr. Trevor Noah. We have shared with Mr. Noah’s attorney a detailed rebuttal to the claims, which are meritless. Due to HIPAA we are restricted by law from addressing publicly specific aspects of the treatment of any patient. The hospital is “committed to excellence in the care we provide to each of the more than 150,000 patients we treat each year.”

Despite rising concerns about the Omicron variant of COVID-19 across the globe, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” earned a staggering $587.2 million internationally over the weekend.

The film, starring Tom Holland as Spider-Man, ranks as the third-biggest worldwide debut in history behind “Avengers: Endgame” (with $1.2 billion) and “Avengers: Infinity War” ($640 million).  Those two films opened in China (which is currently the world’s biggest moviegoing market), while “No Way Home” has not yet been released there. Internationally, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” earned $334.2 million from 60 overseas markets.

The third chapter in Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy (directed by Jon Watts) takes place after Peter Parker’s identity is revealed to the world. Peter asks for help from Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and accidentally unleashes a multiverse, featuring plenty of villains from past Peter Parker timelines. Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Alfred Molina’s Doctor Otto Octavius drop by to wreak havoc and torment Spider-Man in the crossover event.  “Spider-Man: No Way Home” also stars Zendaya as Spidey’s girlfriend MJ, Jacob Batalon as his best friend Ned, and Marisa Tomei as Aunt May.

shutterstock_184651697

Shakira is partnering with NBC for a new dance challenge series titled “Dancing with Myself.”

‘Dancing with Myself’ is a ‘family-friendly competition that aims to bring out the performer in everyone. Every week a new group of dancers of all ages will compete in a series of dance challenges that are designed and demonstrated by the show’s celebrity creators, including Shakira.  Isolated in their own pods, contestants have a limited amount of time to learn the routines as well as add their own unique flare. They then are given the chance to perform the dance in front of a live audience. As each round of the competition progresses, Shakira and her panel of judges provide feedback and encouragement, leaving the audience with the decision of who wins Best Dancer of the Night to take home the cash prize.’

Said Shakira: “I’m excited to be a part of a dance competition that places such a high value on creative movement and how it translates into personal expression, not to mention how it contributes to a sense of community. I’ve personally been blown away by some of the talent I’ve seen thanks to people having access to their own platforms through social media. Dance has been an incredibly potent force throughout my life, and I’m eager to show the world how transformative, empowering and fun it can be.”
