Olivia Rodrigo announces 2022 ‘Sour’ world tour

Olivia Rodrigo has announced a worldwide tour in support of her debut album Sour, set to kick off in the United States in April of 2022.

The North American leg of the tour will kick off April 2 at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco and will wrap May 25 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. A European and U.K. run will follow in June and July.

For the first half of Rodrigo’s North American tour (April 2 through April 23), she’ll receive support from Gracie Abrams. Joining her on the second half of the run (April 26 through May 25) will be Holly Humberstone. Baby Queen will open for Rodrigo during her European and U.K. shows.

Tickets for the Sour tour will go on sale this Friday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. local time. Fans can register for first access via TicketMaster’s Verified Fan program, which will be open through Dec. 7 at 11:59 p.m. PT.  Visit Olivia Rodrigo’s official website for ticket packages and tour information.

Jimmy Fallon has recruited Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion for “It Was A… (Masked Christmas)”, a holiday tune about Christmas in the time of COVID-19.

“It Was A… (Masked Christmas)” arrives along with a video showing Fallon, Grande and Stallion in a series of Christmas-themed settings – drinking eggnog by an open fire, skiing down a mountain, dancing inside a snow globe and lining up for their vaccine booster shots.  You can take a look at the video – here.

Kim Kardashian West to receive ‘Fashion Icon’ honor at 2021 People’s Choice Awards

Kim Kardashian West has been chosen to receive the ‘Fashion Icon’ honor at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards, which is set to air on NBC and E! Tuesday from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

Jen Neal, executive vice president of entertainment live events and specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment television, said in a press release: “For nearly two decades, Kim Kardashian West’s style evolution has disrupted and influenced trends on a global level and cemented herself as a force to be reckoned with within the fashion industry. For being a cultural inspiration, trailblazer and so much more, we can’t wait to honor Kim with this year’s People’s Fashion Icon award.”

The People’s Choice Awards allows fans to vote for their favorites artists across all genres of entertainment. This year’s event has ‘F9’ leading the film categories with eight nominations, while ‘This Is Us’ tops the TV categories with six nominations. Justin Bieber tops the music categories with 10 nominations.

The 2021 People’s Choice Awards, hosted by Kenan Thompson, will air simultaneously on NBC and E! on Dec. 7 at 9 p.m. ET.

Sony drops first-look trailer for ‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part One)’

Sony unveiled the title and first-look teaser for the Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, dubbed Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse (Part One).   The title implies the film will serve as the first installation of a two-part sequel; the first part is scheduled for release in theaters Oct. 7, 2022, and the second part to be released sometime in 2023.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse will chronicle Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) as he groups up with Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac), “Spider-Man 2099”, and Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) to face off with a powerful super-villian.  Along with Moore, Steinfeld and Isaac, Jake Johnson will once again voice Peter Parker, while “Insecure” creator and star Issa Rae will be lending her talents to the role of Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman.

Shawn Mendes releases breakup ballad ‘It’ll Be Okay’ after split from Camila Cabello

Shawn Mendes has released a new breakup ballad titled “It’ll Be Okay” following his recent split from ex-girlfriend, singer Camila Cabello. Mendes uploaded a lyric video for the song, and it can also be streamed through Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, Tidal, Deezer and Soundcloud.

Mendes and Cabello were first linked together in July 2019, and as recently as September they had performed onstage together at the Global Citizen Live concert.  The couple announced that they had gone their separate ways in November after two years of dating, and released a joint statement saying: “Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends.”

BTS share holiday remix of their smash hit ‘Butter’

BTS has dropped a new version of their hit single “Butter.”  The K-pop group shared on social media the release of the “Butter (Holiday Remix)” to celebrate the holidays.

The cover art for the remix reimagines the “Butter” logo for the holidays. with a heart-shaped butter pat (now snowy-white) and featuing a smiley face with a red nose.

“Butter,” released back in May, is BTS’ second English-language single off the band’s Butter single album, which dropped in July. Take a listen to the “Butter (Holiday Remix)” – here.

Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline join Alfonso Cuarón’s ‘Disclaimer’ for Apple TV+

Apple TV+ announced it has ordered the series Disclaimer, starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline.  Alfonso Cuarón will write, direct and executive produce all episodes of the series; Blanchett is also an executive producer.  Disclaimer will be the first project in Cuarón’s multi-picture deal with Apple TV+.

Based on the Renee Knight book, Disclaimer casts Blanchett as TV documentary journalist Catherine Ravenscroft. Kevin Kline will play a widower who publishes a book revealing Ravenscroft’s secrets.

According to a synopsis of the show, “Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett), a successful and respected television documentary journalist whose work has been built on revealing the concealed transgressions of long-respected institutions. When an intriguing novel written by a widower (Kline) appears on her bedside table, she is horrified to realize she is a key character in a story that she had hoped was long buried in the past. A story that reveals her darkest secret. A secret she thought was hers alone.”

Trevor Noah to host 2022 Grammy Awards in January

The Recording Academy and CBS announced that The Daily Show host Trevor Noah will host the 2022 Grammy Awards on Jan. 31, 2021 in Los Angeles.  Noah, 37, previously hosted the 63rd Grammy Awards, which took place in March.

Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., said in a statement: “Trevor was amazing as our host for the 63rd Grammy Awards with praise from the music community, music fans and critics. We’re so excited to welcome Trevor back to the Grammys stage and feel fortunate to once again have him hosting what we believe will be an unforgettable evening.”

Jon Batiste leads the field of nominees with 11 nominations, followed by Justin Bieber and Doja Cat with eight nominations each and Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo with seven nominations each.

The Grammys will air live Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS. It will also be available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+.

Ariana Grande and Kid Cudi team up for new song from the film ‘Don’t Look Up’

Ariana Grande and Kid Cudi have dropped their collaborative single “Just Look Up” from the upcoming film Don’t Look Up, which arrives in select theaters on December 10 and will be streaming on Netflix starting December 24.

Don’t Look Up follows an astronomy graduate student (played by Jennifer Lawrence) and her professor (portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio) after they discover that a comet is going to crash into the Earth. Grande and Kid Cudi act in the film alongside Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Timothée Chalamet, Cate Blanchett, and Ron Perlman.

Christina Aguilera to receive the first-ever ‘Music Icon Award’ at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards

Christina Aguilera will be honored with the first-ever “Music Icon” award this year’s People’s Choice Awards. Aguilera will also perform a medley of hits and some new music at the awards show. Aguilera’s award will be presented by Becky G, who is featured on Aguilera’s new single “Pa’ Mis Muchachas.”

Jen Neal of NBC in a press release: “There is a reason Christina Aguilera is referred to as ‘the voice of our generation.’ She not only has an extraordinary voice, but as a creator, produces music that evokes true emotion and resonates across so many different demographics.
