Sony Pictures has shared plans to release a sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife in 2023.  According to Deadline, the studio said that the new film will open in theaters Dec. 20, 2023.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife director Jason Reitman and writer Gil Kenan had previously confirmed there would be a sequel film on June 8 — dubbed ‘Ghostbusters Day.’ The new film will return to the franchise’s original New York City and Firehouse setting. Reitman recently told The Hollywood Reporter: “At the end of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the Ecto-1 is driving into Manhattan, returning to its home. And before anyone ever heard the title Afterlife, we called it Rust City. Which would not have made sense to anyone until they saw the movie. The code name for the next movie is Firehouse.”

The Ghostbusters franchise originated with the 1984 film Ghostbusters, directed by the late Ivan Reitman, Jason’s father. The movie was followed by the 1989 sequel Ghostbusters II, the 2016 reboot Ghostbusters, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which opened in November.

A man was arrested for allegedly stalking Taylor Swift at her townhouse in the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan. Police told the New York Daily News that the suspect, 35-year-old Joshua Christian of Brooklyn, allegedly showed up at Swift’s townhouse on June 12 and threatened to hurt her “if they weren’t together” through the home’s intercom.

Swift, who was not home at the time, has previously been targeted by fans stalking her at her Manhattan townhouse. In August 2021, a Nebraska man was arrested and pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct after he was found in the entrance of her home. Police alleged that Christian previously broke into Swift’s $18 million home through an unlocked front door on March 26.  He allegedly stayed in the foyer of the home until he fled when confronted by security.

Christian appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Saturday afternoon and was charged with stalking and criminal trespass. After a court-appointed attorney requested that Christian receive a psychological evaluation, Christian told the court that he wanted to represent himself. He was removed from the courtroom after an outburst in which he allegedly demanded people in the courtroom to prove they were real.

shutterstock_1192062628

As part of an interview with Variety, The Weeknd’s team announced the full lineup of opening acts for his upcoming 19-date ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ Stadium Tour. Mike Dean, Snoh Aalegra, and Kaytranada will join the tour on varying dates.

Doja Cat—who was originally billed as a “special guest”—was forced to drop out of the lineup in May due to surgery. She said in an Instagram post at the time: “Unfortunately I have to have surgery on my tonsils ASAP. The surgery is routine but the recovery is going to take awhile due to swelling. That means I have to cancel my festival run this summer as well as The Weeknd tour. I feel horrible about this but can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y’all.”

The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour will kick-off on July 8 in Toronto, with Kaytranada and Mike Dean serving as support. Snoh Aalegra will appear on a number of dates starting with the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Aug. 11.  Mike Dean—who’s worked with Abel before — will appear at all 19 dates of this leg of the tour.
