Lizzo has signed a first-look deal with Amazon to develop and produce future TV projects. The co-heads of television at Amazon Studios, Albert Cheng and Vernon Sanders, announced during the company’s virtual TCA press tour that Lizzo (real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson) has signed a first-look deal.

Lizzo made a brief appearance during the virtual call to express her enthusiasm for the deal, saying, “I’m so excited to partner with the amazing team at Amazon. Thank you to Jen Salke and the rest of the team for making this dream come true. I can’t wait to get started and share my vision with the world.”

Lizzo will be making her first foray into TV with the first-look deal.

Miley Cyrus is dropping new music. Cyrus posted on Instagram  and Twitter that her new single titled “Midnight Sky” will be released on Aug. 14. “I know it feels like you’ve been waiting forever and ever …. but no more….. She is finally here,” the singer tweeted.

Cyrus recently teased new music on Twitter by posting a video of herself and a short clip of an unknown song. “Midnight Sky” is expected to appear on Miley’s seventh studio album titled She Is Miley Cyrus. 

Cyrus released an EP in 2019 titled She Is Coming. Her last album, Younger Now, was released in 2017.

Ariana Grande is said to be releasing a concert film from her Sweetener Tour.  The film will follow the 27-year-old on her big 2019 tour, starting with the release of her album Thank U, Next.

According to multiple reports, there is currently a bidding war for the rights to the doc, with Netflix and YouTube being among the top contenders.

Ariana had previously released her Dangerous Woman Diaries, which followed her on her Dangerous Woman Tour, and was filmed over multiple shows. That docu-series aired on YouTube, and is now available to watch for free on her own YouTube channel.

Marshmello appears to be teasing a future collaboration with Demi Lovato, posting a photo on social media of himself on the telephone, hinting that he is asking Lovato to be featured on his new music. Dua Lipa has announced a star-studded lineup for her remix album Club Future Nostalgia: The Remix Album.

The 24-year-old singer said on Instagram that the album will include a remix of her track “Levitating” featuring Madonna and Missy Elliott, and a remix of the song “Physical” featuring Gwen Stefani and Mark Ronson. “Levitating” and “Physical” both appear on Lipa’s second studio album, Future Nostalgia, which was released in March. 

Lipa will release the “Levitating” remix Aug. 14 and the full remix album Aug. 21.

“Little Bit of Love” appears on Kesha’s most recent album, High Road, which was released in January. Last month, Kesha teamed up with L.A. singer-songwriter Wrabel for a new song, “Since I was Young.”  The pair previously worked together on multiple songs on Kesha’s Rainbow, as well as High Road.

On Tuesday, MTV announced on Twitter the first group of performers for the 2020 MTV VMAs.

BTS, nominated for Best Pop, Best K-Pop and Best Choreography, will perform its forthcoming single “Dynamite” for the first time during the awards show. Doja Cat, who is up for PUSH Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Direction, and J Balvin, who is nominated for Best Collaboration and thrice for Best Latin, will also perform. Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga lead the list of nominees, with nine nominations each, followed by Billie Eilish and The Weeknd.

The MTV VMAs will take place Aug. 30 at Barclays Center in New York. New York governor Andrew Cuomo previously said the awards show “will follow all safety guidance, including limited or no audience,” due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Taylor Swift has becoming the first artist ever to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 in the same week. Swift’s surprise eighth studio album, Folklore, took top honors in its first week after moving 846,000 units, marking the biggest sales week this year. Her lead single, “Cardigan,” also debuted at No. 1 after amassing 34 million U.S. streams and 71,000 downloads sold.

“Cardigan” is joined by “The 1” at No. 4, making her the first woman to have two songs simultaneously debut in the top five of the Hot 100. Meanwhile, the Swift/Bon Iver collab “Exile” took the No. 6 spot. She’s the sixth artist to have three tracks in the Hot 100’s top 10 in its first week.

The Weeknd has announced an “interactive” concert on TikTok billed as a “first-of-its-kind virtual musical experience” to air Friday, August 7 at 8:30PM ET.

The concert will feature an animated avatar of Abel Tesfaye performing selections from his newest record, After Hours. TikTok promises that “fans will have the chance to interact with The Weeknd throughout as he takes viewers on an epic After Hours journey.” For the “After Hours Experience,” TikTok is partnering with the streaming app Wave.
