Take a look at the latest trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’

shutterstock_1545137777

The latest trailer for Disney+’s newest Star Wars series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, has been released.  The trailer for the limited series shows Obi-Wan (portrayed by Ewan McGregor) watching over a young Luke Skywalker and living in hiding on the desert planet of Tatooine following the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

In the trailer, Luke’s Uncle Owen (Joel Edgerton) tells Obi-Wan to leave them alone and doesn’t want the fallen hero to train Luke in the ways of the Jedi. Obi-Wan says: “When the time comes, he must be trained,” to which Uncle Owen replies back, “Like you trained his father?” (in reference to how Anakin Skywalker turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader, portrayed by Hayden Christensen).  The trailer ends with Obi-Wan seemingly coming face to face with Vader once again.  Disney+ also released a new poster for the series, that features Obi-Wan and Vader.

Obi-Wan Kenobi comes to Disney+ on May 27, premiering with two episodes. New episodes will then be released every Wednesday.  The series also stars Moses Ingram, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

shutterstock_1309396528

Dolly Parton is among the list 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, announced on May 4. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame unveiled the list which includes Parton, Pat Benatar, Duran Duran, Eminem, Lionel Richie, Eurythmics, Carly Simon, Judas Priest, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Allen Grubman, Jimmy Iovine, Sylvia Robinson, Elizabeth Cotten, and Harry Belafonte. The 2022 ceremony will be the first time that six female acts will be inducted in one class.

Parton originally turned down her nomination for induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March, saying on social media: “Even though I’m extremely flattered and grateful to be nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I don’t feel that I have earned that right. I really do not want votes split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out.” However, in a recent interview with NPR, Parton clarified that if voted in, she would gracefully accept.

To be eligible, artists must have at least a 25-year span since their first commercial recording came out. Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame John Sykes said in a press release:  “This diverse group of inductees each had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture and helped change the course of rock & roll. Their music moved generations and influenced so many artists that followed.”

The Class of 2022 will be inducted on Nov. 5 at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater. The event will also air on a later date on HBO and stream on HBO Max.  Ticket information for the 37th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be shared in the coming weeks.

Suspect in custody after attack on Dave Chappelle while performing on stage at Hollywood Bowl

shutterstock_1087734182-3

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that a 23-year-old man armed with a replica handgun that contained a knife blade was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, after attacking comedian Dave Chappelle onstage Tuesday night as he performed at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl arena.

LAPD identified the suspect as Isaiah Lee of Los Angeles, who was being held on $30,000 bail. Chappelle was not injured in the attack, and later joked with fellow comedian and actor Jamie Foxx onstage that he’d taken revenge on his attacker. Comedian Chris Rock was also at the show, and jokingly asked if the attacker was Will Smith (who made headlines for slapping Rock at the Academy Awards this past March).

Videos from audience members’ cellphones quickly flooding social media and showing a man appear to run onto the stage and tackle the comic.  Additional videos posted to Twitter appeared to show the person who charged Chappelle being detained outside the venue by police and then loaded into an ambulance with visible injuries. Witnesses say that the man was set upon by multiple people onstage immediately after he attacked Chappelle.
